Workshop: Drum Circles & Singing

Workshop: Drum Circles & Singing

Musical exchange across cultural borders

Idea: Drum circles & singing workshops for shared experiences

The “Drum Circles & Singing Workshops” series of events organized by interaction Leipzig e.V. offered a unique opportunity to experience cultures together and connect through music. Under the expert guidance of Florian Sinkwitz, the participants discovered the world of rhythms and songs.

Goal: Overcoming cultural boundaries – with music as a universal language

The aim of the workshops was to offer the participants the opportunity to gain musical experience and overcome cultural boundaries at the same time. Making music and singing together should promote a sense of community, relaxation and cultural exchange.

Implementation: With rhythm and song to self-development

In the Drum Circle workshops, the participants were introduced to various percussion instruments from different cultures under the guidance of Florian Sinkwitz. Rhythms from West Africa, Turkey and Latin America were explored together in order to share musical experiences within the group. The singing workshops focused on exploring one’s own voice and learning singing techniques.

Florian Sinkwitz led the participants through various exercises and interactive vocal improvisation games to create a sonorous community experience. The workshops also offered space for exchange across cultural boundaries, supported by cooperation partners such as the Pandechaion-Herberge e.V. and the Arno-Nitzsche-Straße refugee shelter.
