Idea: Strengthening the presence of women in the DJ scene

The “Female DJ Workshop” organized by interaction Leipzig e.V. advocated for more diversity in Leipzig’s music scene. By imparting knowledge and strengthening the presence of women in the DJ scene, cultural diversity should be further expanded.

Goal: Diversity and equal opportunities in Leipzig’s music culture

The project aimed to encourage women with a history of migration to try their hand at DJing and thus increase the number of female DJs in Leipzig. By focusing on this underrepresented group, the aim was to promote diversity and equal opportunities in the music scene.

Implementation: 4 workshops under professional guidance

The workshop taught the participants both the theoretical and practical basics of DJing. The course covered various mixing techniques, the use of DJ equipment, the creation of DJ sets and the selection of music. Special attention was paid to creating a space for experimenting, getting to know each other and exchanging experiences.

an experienced woman, to support the approach of promoting female DJs. Local collaborations, such as with the
FutureFabrik
were entered into for the project to ensure broader support and reach.
