The global spread of the coronavirus pandemic has affected almost all areas of human life, including the art world. Artists were suddenly confronted with unexpected challenges and restrictions that influenced and changed their creative work.
Goal: The art tour as a mirror of the art world after Corona
The aim of the art tour was to reflect on the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the art world and show how artists have dealt with the new challenges. The closure of galleries and museums, the restriction of cultural events and the digital transformation of the art scene were discussed.
Implementation: Virtual paths to art in the east of Leipzig
The art tour offered the public the opportunity to discover and experience works of art in shop windows along a route in the east of Leipzig. The exhibition “What comes after…” presented a selection of works submitted by artists who expressed their personal perspectives on the theme “What comes after…”. Virtual alternatives and digital transformations have enabled art lovers to experience and share art despite the restrictions imposed by the pandemic. The exhibition took place at various locations in the east of Leipzig and enabled visitors to reflect on current challenges and explore new paths for the future.
Conclusion
The art tour “What comes after…?” was a complete success, demonstrating the power and importance of art in challenging times. The successful combination of creative expression, public space and digital networking has opened up new perspectives and enriched Leipzig’s cultural scene in the long term.
