ANDIWONDER theater group: "Walk of Shame"
Idea: Exploring shame
The transcultural theater group ANDIWONDER was a project by interaction Leipzig e.V. that dealt with the themes of the self, the other and the supposedly normative. The group explored social contradictions and personal stories using the means of theater. This piece was about shame.
Goal: To reveal and experience shame
The aim of this production was to make moments of shame tangible and to explore the diversity of shame, both on a personal and social level. The production “Walk of Shame” guides the audience through the theater and poses questions about the nature and meaning of shame.
Implementation: Feeling shame
“I blush. My legs are shaking. My voice is stuck in my throat and my hands are sweating. Streaks in my head. What did I want to say? Who did I want to be again? The deep-seated feeling of having done something wrong. Not being enough. Sorry?”
The production was a walk through the theater in which moments of shame are brought to life. When you love who you are not allowed to love or to be without a profession or to look a little different. The transcultural theater group ANDIWONDER from interaction Leipzig explored the diversity of shame, biographically and socially.
The group addressed the following questions: Is shame everything we are not allowed to be? Is shame, escape or attack? Does shame show me my true self? Does shame live deep within us? Shame is the only feeling you can’t fake. Can I even say what I am REALLY ashamed of?
