Goal: Participation and exchange

In three planning meetings, we encouraged the residents of the Arno-Nitzsche-Straße refugee shelter to take part in the neighborhood festival. We know from experience that culture creates identity and shares culture, promotes social interaction and strengthens self-esteem.

Implementation: Hildebrandplatz becomes a meeting place

Together with the residents of the Arno-Nitzsche-Straße refugee shelter and the
Zirkomania e.V.
we organized the NEBEN-Kiezfest on September 03, 2023. With traditional food, a jam session, circus participation area and children’s program, over 300 guests came to the park in the south of Leipzig. In addition to the hands-on activities, the impressive artistry show by the
Kigamboni Community Center
from Tanzania was the highlight of the afternoon.
